LUBBOCK, Texas - Big 12 regular season champion West Virginia will pay its first visit to the John Walker Soccer Complex Sunday when the No. 18 Red Raiders and No. 9 Mountaineers clash in a highly-anticipated showdown. First kick for the match is set for 6 p.m.
Texas Tech, unbeaten in Big 12 play, is coming off its ninth shutout in 11 matches after handling Kansas 1-0 Friday at the John Walker Soccer Complex. Sophomore Janine Beckie provided the game-winner in the 15th minute as Tech moved to 7-1 at home this season.
Tech (14-1-2, 4-0-2 Big 12) has won 16 of its last 18 games at home since the start of the 2012 season.
West Virginia (13-2-2, 7-0 Big 12) clinched the Big 12 regular season title with a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma in double-overtime Friday night.
Sunday's match marks the second in a pivotal three-match homestand which concludes Nov. 1 with the Red Raiders' regular season finale against in-state rival Texas.
