Eric Stong
Eric Emmerson Strong is a wearer of many hats. Among the hats he wears is that of a poet, an educator, a lay-historian, a writer, an arts activist and a nationally recognized storyteller.
He specializes in stories of the Old West, folktales, personal stories and peace tales of hope and self-esteem. Strong has a Bachelors from Prairie View A&M University and a Masters from Texas Tech, where serves as director of the Department of Upward Bound Programs.
He is the founder of the Roots Historical Arts Council. His record of service and dedication to the arts and humanities has led to his being named "Man of the Year" on two occasions, once by the Confederated Women's Clubs of West Texas and a second time by the area chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. He has also been named, "Texas Man of Distinction" by the National Business League of Texas and "Top Techsan" by the Texas Tech Alumni Association.
