Women's Golf Heads to Oklahoma

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech women's golf will look for its third consecutive top five finish this fall when the Lady Raiders tee off in the OU Schooner Fall Classic on Saturday at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma.
The No. 49 Lady Raiders will be joined by host Oklahoma, LSU, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, SMU, Baylor, Texas, Kent State, Central Florida, Texas A&M, Cal, Florida State, Texas State, Arkansas, Clemson and TCU.
"We're excited to go," head coach JoJo Robertson said. "It's probably one of the best fields we'll go up against in the fall. It's a great golf course and should be a good test for us."
Only two of the five student-athletes making the trip with Tech have any memories of the course last year - Stephanie Bertelsen and Elin Arvidsson. Wet and cold temperatures presented an extra challenge at Belmar and raised scores.
"I think we are more prepared for the course this year," Bertelsen said. "We've played really well as a team so far this year and now we kind of know what to expect out of each other and from this course."
What she and fellow senior Arvidsson have come to expect from their newcomers is a new level of consistency. Junior transfers Sarah Brown and Gennai Goodwin, along with freshman Gabby Barker, have each played in the first two tourneys with Tech and finished in the top 25 individually.
Brown has fired rounds of 75 or better in five of her six rounds heading into Saturday's tournament but says even her best round is yet to come.
"I haven't necessarily hit the ball well the last two tournaments but my short game has really showed up and my misses aren't that big," Brown said. "So this tournament I want to strike the ball better and shoot some low scores."
