MAHOMES MAKES HISTORY WITH BACK-TO-BACK FOUR TOUCHDOWN PERFORMANCES
? Patrick Mahomes made his third straight start and his fourth touchdown pass of the game made history as he became the first Red Raider freshman to throw four touchdowns in back-to-back games.
? Mahomes (23-of-35, 328 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception) also recorded his second straight 300-yard passing performance.
ROBERTSON TIES GABE RIVERA FOR 10TH ALL-TIME AT TEXAS TECH IN CAREER SACKS
? Pete Robertson's third-quarter sack moved him into Tech's career top-10 list tying him with College Football Hall of Famer Gabe Rivera (1979-82) with 14.
? Robertson moved into sole possession of eighth place in Tech's single-season top-10 list with his 10th sack of the season.
? Robertson's 10 sacks marks the most by a Red Raider in a single-season since Brandon Sharpe set the school record with 15 sacks in 2009.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
? DeAndre Washington's 27-yard TD catch on Tech's first offensive drive of the game gave the Red Raiders a 7-0 lead. It marked his first receiving touchdown of the season.
? Washington gave Texas Tech a 14-0 later in the first quarter when he scored on a 72-yard run. The 72-yard TD run is tied for the ninth longest in school history as Byron Hanspard rattled off a 72-yard TD run against Oklahoma State in 1996.
? Washington reached 100 yards before halftime and it marked his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season.
? Senior receiver Bradley Marquez has now caught at least one pass in 40 of 42 career games.
? Devin Lauderdale's 82-yard touchdown reception with 4:17 to go in the third quarter gave Texas Tech a 27-24 lead over the Cyclones. The 82-yard TD is tied for the eighth longest touchdown catch in school history and the longest since 2008 when Michael Crabtree caught an 82-yard TD pass from Graham Harrell against Nevada.
? Mahomes threw his fourth TD pass of the game to Kenny Williams for a 44-yard TD as the Red Raiders took a 34-31 lead with just over four minutes to play.
TEAM NOTES
? Texas Tech extended its school record consecutive game scoring streak in the first quarter of today's game at Iowa State. The streak now stands at 218 games and dates back to to Oct. 25, 1997.
? With 600 yards of total offense, Texas Tech has now posted 325-plus yards of offense in 39 straight games - the longest active streak in the FBS.
? Texas Tech recorded 27 first downs - the Red Raiders have now posted at least 20 first downs in 20 of its last 21 games.
