LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior Kimmy Hill was named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month on Thursday following her third place finish last month at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State.
This is the first career honor for Hill, who is the first Lady Raider to be named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month since current LPGA professional Kim Kaufman earned the accolade in October 2012.
Hill fired a three-round score of 219 at the Jim West Challenge en route to finishing third individually while also leading Tech to a third-place finish as a team. The Lady Raiders, behind a 2-under par 70 from Hill in the final round, finished better than five teams ranked ahead of them at the time in the Golfweek.com standings.
Hill gave up only one bogey to go with 14 pars and three birdies during her impressive final round which marked her lowest card since recording a 67 over the final 18 holes at last season's Challenge at Onion Creek that is also held in the fall.
The Lady Raiders resume their tournament schedule in a few months with the UC Irvine Invitational. The two-day event begins Feb. 23 in Irvine, California.
