Tech in Fourth Place at Briar's Creek

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Stephanie Bertelsen finished her first two rounds at 5-over par to help Texas Tech climb into fourth place on day one of the Briar's Creek Invitational at John's Island.
The Lady Raiders (299-303--602) trail No. 11 Clemson by one stroke and East Carolina by two strokes. GRU Augusta leads all teams at 596.
Bertelsen (74-75--149) carded four birdies and an eagle on Monday to go with 23 pars. She scored the only eagle on the 430-yard, par-5 10th hole on Monday out of 186 rounds.
Sophomore Kimmy Hill led the charge through the first 18 holes and even took the individual lead midway through the first round at 2-under par. She would finish with the only Tech score under par at 71 but carded an 80 on the second 18 for a 154 total and tied for 24th.
Junior Elin Arvidsson shot the lowest round for Tech in the second round Monday with a 1-over 73 to put her in a tie for 19th at 6-over par (77-73--150) while senior Hannah Arnold also improved from her first round 77 with a 75 to move into a tie for 30th.
Redshirt freshman Victoria Uresti rounded out the second round scores with an 86.
Tech will play the final round of the tournament Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. EST (8 a.m. CST) with a shotgun start on holes 4-6 alongside East Tennessee State and Penn State.
