11 a.m. - COACHES PRESS CONFERENCE
Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock opened the College World Series Media Day by meeting with members of the local and national media in a press conference held at TD Ameritrade Park.
Tadlock, who was named the Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year earlier Friday morning, was joined at the podium by fellow head coaches in TCU's Jim Schlossnagle, Virginia's Brian O'Conner and Ole Miss skipper Mike Bianco. The four head coaches make up the second pod that will begin play on Sunday.
Tadlock covered a variety of topics from parity in college baseball to playing defense in spacious TD Ameritrade Park.
He also addressed the strength of the Big 12 this season where four teams advanced to a Super Regional with three of those - Texas Tech, Texas and TCU - all advancing to the College World Series. `
"I think our league on any given day can play baseball with anybody," said Tadlock, who is at the College World Series for the second time in his career. He also came to Omaha in 2010 while as an assistant coach at Oklahoma.
The press conference was covered live on ESPNU. Full footage will be available shortly on TexasTech.TV.
Love hearing Texas Tech coach Tim Tadlock talk about anything. Guy is just a straight shooter and cuts to the chase.

The Red Raiders took a team picture this afternoon in front of the Road of Omaha statue that is located just outside TD Ameritrade Park.
12:55 p.m. - Team Photo
The Red Raiders began their day with an image that will likely last in their minds forever - a team picture in front of the Road to Omaha statue that is located just behind the home plate entrance at TD Ameritrade Park.
Texas Tech, which is at the College World Series for the first time in program history, was set to begin practice later in the day. The historic photo was the first stop of several on the day for the Red Raiders.
Eric Gutierrez posed for ESPN earlier this afternoon for footage that will be shown on the television broadcast throughout the College World Series.
1:15 p.m. - ESPN/NCAA.com/Video Board Interviews
Shortly following the team photo, four Red Raiders - Adam Kirsch, Stephen Smith, Tyler Neslony and Eric Gutierrez - along with head coach Tim Tadlock met with various crews from ESPN and NCAA.com.
The Red Raiders shot most of the video board and television material Texas Tech fans will see throughout the College World Series during this time.
It was the final stop for the Red Raiders prior to their 2 p.m. practice time.
The Red Raiders practiced for roughly 50 minutes Friday afternoon at spacious TD Ameritrade Park.
2 p.m. - PRACTICE
After a long day filled with pictures and interviews, the Red Raiders were finally able to break out the bats and gloves for practice at TD Ameritrade Park.
Texas Tech practiced for roughly 50 minutes, taking batting practice while the Red Raiders infielders also took a few ground balls. It was the only practice for the Red Raiders prior to Sunday's College World Series opener against TCU.

The Red Raiders spent roughly an hour signing autographs Friday afternoon for fans who waited patiently in line on the TD Ameritrade Park concourse.
3:30 p.m. - AUTOGRAPH SESSION
The Red Raiders spent an hour following practice signing autographs for fans who lined the concourse of TD Ameritrade Park.
Texas Tech was scheduled to sign autographs for just 30 minutes on Friday, but due to the long line, the Red Raiders stayed for an extra 30 minutes on their own. The line of fans waiting for autographs was at least 100 deep and stretched down the concourse.

Tyler Neslony, seen here taking batting practice Friday, was named to the All-Midwest Region second team Friday afternoon by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
5:30 p.m. - Gutierrez, Neslony Named to ABCA All-Region Teams
The Texas Tech baseball program received some good news Friday afternoon as Tyler Neslony and Eric Gutierrez were both named to the All-Midwest Region second team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
It marked the first time in each of Gutierrez and Neslony's respective career that either have been honored by the ABCA. Texas Tech has not previously had a pair of underclassmen named to an all-region team in school history.
The Red Raiders will return to TD Ameritrade Park later this evening for Opening Ceremonies that begin at roughly 8:30 p.m. For complete coverage of the Red Raiders in Omaha, continue to visit texastech.com and TexasTech.TV.

8:30-10 p.m. - OPENING CEREMONIES
Texas Tech made its long-awaited debut at the College World Series Friday evening when the Red Raiders were introduced during the Opening Ceremonies held in front of a near full house at TD Ameritrade Park.
All eight participating teams in the CWS were introduced from the center field fence with each squad making the walk across the outfield to their spot behind home plate. The ceremony featured ESPN analyst and former Stanford All-American Kyle Peterson as the honorary speaker.
The top academic performer from each squad was also honored early in the ceremony as Texas Tech sophomore Zach Davis received the honor for the Red Raiders. Davis, the speedy outfielder out of Houston, Texas, compiled the highest GPA among Red Raiders with at least one full academic year completed.
The CWS Opening Ceremonies, long considered the official beginning of 12 days of baseball, ended with a nearly 10 minute firework show.
