Red Raiders Conclude Play at UT Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - No. 41 Texas Tech closed out play at the four-team UT Invitational at the Weller Indoor Tennis Center on Sunday.
The Red Raiders finished 4-6 in singles and 3-2 in doubles in the three-day event, which featured Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas Tech.
Hugo Dojas, who only played on the event on Friday, went 2-0, capturing both a singles and doubles win. Dojas teamed with Arkansas' Giammarco Micolani for a 7-6 win over Corpus Christi's Kevin Bettendroffer and Paul Cook. The Dojas defeated Micolani in a three-set marathon, 6-3, 7-6, 7-5.
Midseason signee Alex Sendegeya began his collegiate career with a pair of wins in singles. He topped Jovan Parlic of Arkansas and Peter Nagy of Corpus Christi. His lone loss came against Michael Reichmann of Texas. Sendegeya went 1-0 in doubles after teaming with Texas' William Jou to drop Wilks Kothmann and Ricardo Mayagoita of Corpus Christi.
Freshman Alex Buzelan went 1-2 in singles with his lone win coming against Texas' Jou. Buzelan also went 1-2 in doubles while teaming with Evan Nix. The pair topped Corpus Christi's Mitch Cook and Mayagoitia, 6-4.
Nix struggled at the event, losing all three singles matches.
Texas Tech returns to action on Friday in Tucson, Ariz., as the Red Raiders begin the dual match season with six matches over four days. The Red Raiders will face Arizona, New Mexico and UC-Irvine.
