WASHINGTON MOVES INTO SIXTH ALL-TIME AT TEXAS TECH AFTER ANOTHER STRONG PERFORMANCE
? DeAndre Washington recorded the sixth 100-yard rushing performance of his career as the senior finished with 160 yards on 22 attempts. It was the third 100-yard rushing performance already this season for Washington.
? Washington's performance moved the senior into sole possession of seventh place in the Texas Tech history with 2,665 career rushing yards. He passed Larry Isaac (1973-76; 2,633) on his 45-yard rush late in the fourth quarter. (came in with 2,505)
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
? Patrick Mahomes II recorded the eighth 300-yard passing performance of his career against Kansas as the sophomore finished 30-of-51 for 359 yards and a touchdown.
? Clayton Hatfield made multiple field goals for the first time in his career as he connected on a successful 30-yard attempt with 36 seconds remaining in the first quarter, a 24-yarder with 10:13 remaining in the second quarter and then a 25-yard attempt with 1:17 in the third quarter. Hatfield's three successful field goals marked the most for a Red Raider since Ryan Bustin finished a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts at West Virginia in 2013. Hatfield entered the game with three field goals altogether this season.
? J.J. Gaines forced the second fumble of his career early in the second quarter. Gaines, who also recovered the fumble, is now responsible for six turnovers this season.
? Cameron Batson hauled in the longest reception of his career early in the second quarter as he setup a Texas Tech field goal off a 45-yard pass from Mahomes.
? Texas Tech offensive lineman Le'Raven Clark gave Texas Tech an 11-0 lead in the second quarter with a successful two-point attempt following a DeAndre Washington rushing touchdown. It was the first successful offensive two-point conversion for the Red Raiders since facing TCU in 2012.
? Branden Jackson created Texas Tech's second turnover of the game early in the third quarter as he forced a Kansas fumble that was recovered by Pete Robertson. It was the third forced fumble of Jackson's career and first this season.
? Pete Robertson recorded the 18th sack of his career with 4:25 remaining in the fourth quarter, moving him into sole possession of seventh place all-time at Texas Tech.
? Jah'Shawn Johnson recorded the first interception of his career with 4:07 remaining in the fourth quarter and returned it for a touchdown. It is the second time this season a Red Raider has returned an interception for a touchdown as J.J. Gaines took one back in the season opener against Sam Houston State.
TEAM NOTES
? The Texas Tech defense held Kansas scoreless through the first half. It is the first time Texas Tech has held an opponent scoreless in the opening half since facing Texas State in 2013. The Red Raiders had not previously shut out a Big 12 opponent in the first half since hosting TCU in 2013, the game prior to facing Texas State.
? Texas Tech has now scored at least 30 points in all seven games this season. It is the longest such streak to start a season since the Red Raiders put together a similar streak to start the 2011 season.
? Texas Tech scored at least 30 points for the 10th-consecutive game dating back to the end of the 2014 season. It matched Texas Tech's longest such streak since the Red Raiders went 10-straight games with 30 or more points during the 2010-11 seasons.
? Texas Tech's 584 yards of total offense marked the fourth-straight game in which the Red Raiders had totaled at least 500 yards of total offense.
