MAHOMES NOTES ? Patrick Mahomes II put together another strong performance leading the Texas Tech offense as he finished 38-of-55 for 480 yards and four touchdowns. It was the third time this season and fifth time in his career to record 400 passing yards. His 480 passing yards were the second most in his career.
? Mahomes rushed for his eighth touchdown of the season with 46 seconds remaining in the second quarter. He is now tied with Ron Reeves (1978) for fourth all-time on the Texas Tech single-season chart for rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks.
? In addition to his work passing, Mahomes also rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries.
Jakeem Grant DOES IT ALL AGAINST OKLAHOMA STATE
? Jakeem Grant powered the Red Raiders both offensively and on special teams as the senior recorded 323 all-purpose yards, which ranks fourth all-time in Texas Tech single-game history. Grant totaled a career-high 178 receiving yards and 146 kickoff return yards.
? Jakeem Grant's 90 yard reception early in the first quarter marked the longest by a Red Raider since Rodney Blackshear went a school-record 95 yards against Houston in 1991.
? Grant added his fourth career kickoff return for a touchdown with 4:13 remaining in the first quarter as he scampered 100 yards to find the endzone. He is the Texas Tech career record holder with four kickoffs returned for a touchdown.
? Grant's 100-yard kickoff return matched the longest in Texas Tech and Big 12 history. The feat had been accomplished just five times previously by a Red Raider - Ivory McCann vs. New Mexico (2001), Keith Henderson vs. Houston (1984), Donny Anderson vs. Oklahoma State (1965), Jack Kirkpatrick vs. Tulsa (1953) and vs. West Texas State (1953).
? Grant totaled 210 all-purpose yards in the opening quarter alone. According to ESPN Stats and Info, it marked the most all-purpose yards in a quarter this season for any player in the country, breaking the previous mark of 201 by Temple's Jahad Thomas against Cincinnati.
? Grant's 12-yard touchdown reception with 11:35 remaining in the second quarter marked the 22nd of his career, moving him into a tie for sixth all-time in program history with Darrin Moore (2010-12) and Mickey Peters (2000-03).
? The performance moved Grant into fifth place all-time with 2,973 career receiving yards and into sixth place with 5,010 career all-purpose yards.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
? Justin Stockton found the endzone only 46 seconds into the first quarter off a 42-yard pass from Mahomes, marking the sixth game already this year where the sophomore has scored a touchdown. His two receiving touchdowns marked a career high.
? Dakota Allen recorded his first career interception with 8:32 remaining in the first quarter. He is the sixth Red Raider to record an interception this season.
? Clayton Hatfield connected on a career-long 42 yard field goal with 6:21 remaining in the first quarter. He is now 9-for-10 in field goal attempts this season.
? Demetrius Alston recorded his first career sack with 4:50 remaining in the second quarter.
? Pete Robertson collected his fourth sack of the season and 20th of his career with 10:44 remaining in the third quarter. The sack moved the senior into fifth place in the Texas Tech career record book, passing Keyunta Dawson (2003-06; 19.5 sacks).
? Ian Sadler recorded the first 100-yard receiving performance of his career as he finished with eight receptions for 122 yards, both career highs. Sadler caught his third touchdown of the season and fifth of his career off a 20-yard pass from Mahomes with 12:40 remaining in the game.
? DeAndre Washington finished with 97 rushing yards off 22 carries, leaving the senior 68 yards from reaching 1,000 yards for the second-straight season.
TEAM NOTES
? The two teams combined for the most points in Jones AT&T Stadium history, snapping the previous mark of 107 points set earlier this year against No. 3 TCU.
? Oklahoma State's 70 points marked the most surrendered by Texas Tech at home in school history. ? Texas Tech's 53 points marked its most ever in a losing effort.
? Texas Tech got on the board early in the opening quarter as Patrick Mahomes II found Justin Stockton on a 42-yard pass just 46 seconds into the game. It marked the quickest touchdown to start a game for the Red Raiders since it took Texas Tech just 45 seconds to find the endzone against New Mexico in 2010.
? The Red Raiders have now scored at least 38 points in the opening half four times this season and twice during Big 12 play (Iowa State). Texas Tech had not previously scored 38 or more points against a Big 12 opponent prior to facing Iowa State since facing Kansas State in 2009.
? Texas Tech has now scored in 228 games dating back to the 1997 season, a streak that ranks 12th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference.
