Texas Tech Announces 2016 Football Schedule

Texas Tech will host six games at Jones AT&T Stadium in 2016, including home contests against Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia.

Texas Tech's six home dates to be played at Jones AT&T Stadium include its season opener vs. Stephen F. Austin (Sept. 3), Louisiana Tech (Sept. 17), Big 12 Conference opener Kansas (Sept. 29), West Virginia (Oct. 15), Oklahoma (Oct. 22) and Texas (Nov. 5). The Red Raiders' 2016 road opponents are Arizona State (Sept. 10), Kansas State (Oct. 8), TCU (Oct. 29), Oklahoma State (Nov. 12) and Iowa State (Nov. 19).
For the sixth consecutive season, Texas Tech will face Baylor at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The neutral site game on Friday, Nov. 25 will be considered a Texas Tech home game and is the second of a four-game contract between the two schools which will be played at AT&T Stadium. Texas Tech and Baylor began playing at a neutral site in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in 2009 with six of the previous seven matchups played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Texas Tech will begin a two-game contracted home-and-home series against Arizona State on Saturday, Sept. 10 when the Red Raiders visit Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
Texas Tech will open its season on Saturday, Sept. 3 against Stephen F. Austin and have an off week on Sept. 24.
Season ticket information for the 2016 campaign will be announced in the coming weeks.
Bowl eligible Texas Tech recently completed its 2015 home schedule on Nov. 14 with a 59-44 win over Kansas State. Season attendance in Texas Tech's six home games this year was 56,340, which would rank as the fifth highest season average in school history. All six of Texas Tech's top season attendance average figures have been achieved in the last six years, while its top-17 all-time most attended games have occurred within the last six years (2010-15).
Texas Tech (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) plays its final 2015 regular season game at Texas (4-6, 3-4 Big 12) on Thursday, Nov. 26. Kickoff for that contest is at 6:30 p.m. CT for a Fox Sports 1 national broadcast.
