Gutierrez Earns Fourth Preseason All-America Award

Gutierrez has received four preseason All-America honors - including a pair of first team selections.
LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior first baseman Eric Gutierrez was named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Preseason First Team All-American on Tuesday afternoon, the organization announced.
Gutierrez has received four preseason All-America awards (first or second team) while claiming a pair of first team selections. Gutierrez was also a first team selection by Collegiate Baseball and named second team preseason All-America by Perfect Game and D1Baseball.com.
Gutierrez, an All-Big 12 first team selection as a sophomore, led the Big 12 in home runs (12) and RBI (58) in 2014. He batted .302 with 18 doubles and led the Big 12 in total bases.
He has started in 122 consecutive games - spanning entire freshman and sophomore seasons - while posting 122 career hits (.280 average) with 28 doubles, four triples, 19 home runs and 87 RBI during his Red Raider career.
Gutierrez was named an American Baseball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region second team pick in 2014 and was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American as a freshman in 2013.
