ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Cierra White ran the world's fastest women's 200 meter dash this season to lead the No. 14 men's and No. 18 women's Texas Tech track and field teams on day one of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, on Friday, in Albuquerque, N.M.
White's time of 22.98 broke her own school record she set just two weeks ago, and vaulted her to No. 1 in both the nation and the world. She is the only female in the world to run the 200 meters in under 23 seconds this season.

The Tech men and women have now broken a school record seven different times in 2015, over the course of just four meets.
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders combined for 11 collegiate-best performances inside the Albuquerque Convention Center, which hosted the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Tech picked up huge performances from Trevor Mackey and Joseph Richards III in the 200 meter dash. Mackey (21.16) and Richards III (21.21) secured third and fifth in the event setting new personal-best marks in the process. Mackey's time is tied for No. 18 in the NCAA and ranks 10th in program history. Richards' performance ranks 27th nationally.
In the men's high jump, Dayton Fisher cleared a personal-best 2.14m/7-0.25, good enough for second place. Trey Culver took seventh, with a jump of 2.04m/6-8.25.
The Red Raiders now have three different high jumpers who have cleared a bar seven feet or higher in 2015, and four who have cleared at least 6'11'.
Kyle Thompson cleared a personal-best 5.26m/17-3.0 in the men's pole vault, landing him in 12th place, and in the long jump, Keniel Grant delivered a massive personal best leap of 7.58m/24-10.5 to finish third. His mark ranks 15th in the NCAA.
In the women's long jump, Le'Tristan Pledger (6.13m/20-1.50) placed fifth, and Shanice Stewart (6.10m/20-0.25) placed sixth.
In the men's 400 meter dash, Kyle Collins ran a personal-best 47.48 to place fourth, and JW Smith put up a personal-best time of 48.05, finishing ninth. Charles Jones placed third in the 600 meters, finishing in 1:17.99
On the women's side, Natalie Thompson earned second place in the high jump, with a personal-best clearance of 1.74m/5-8.5.
The Red Raiders will be back in action tomorrow morning in Albuquerque, with events beginning at 9:30 a.m., MST.
