Wes Kittley wins his 6th overall Indoor Coach of the Year honor
IRVING, Texas – Head Coach Wes Kittley was named the Big 12 Indoor Men's and Women's Coach of the Year, while Malachi Snow was dubbed the Men's Performer of the Year, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.
Kittley led both Tech teams to Big 12 title last weekend, making if four-straight for the men and two-straight for the women. The men's squad won the meet by a one-point margin (125-124) over Kansas State and secured five individual titles, three second-place medals along with one third-place medal. During this season, the men's side has ranked as high as No. 4 in the country.
Meanwhile, the women secured a 4.5 margin of victory over BYU (114.5-110) and claimed a pair of individual titles, three second-place medals and one third-place medal. They have ranked as high as No. 6 in the country and will head into nationals holding that same ranking next weekend.
Snow did all his damage in a matter of 20 minutes last weekend, first winning the 60m hurdles (7.43) for second-straight season before taking home to 60m dash title (6.46). Both his times went down as meet records and new personal bests as his 60m time is the second-fastest time in NCAA history, making him the fifth-fastest performer in that event. He goes into nationals next weekend ranked No. 2 in both events.
Snow becomes the fourth Red Raider all-time to win the award and second in the last four seasons (Caleb Dean, 2023-24).
