LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 24 Texas Tech will close out the non-conference portion of the season on Sunday at 11 a.m., when the Red Raiders (15-4) take on Louisiana (9-9) at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The match is free and open to the public. There are several prizes and giveaways at the event, including a drawing for a trip to any professional tennis tournament in the United States.
Texas Tech is in search of its 16th win of the season. A win over Louisiana will mark the 22nd time in the 66-year history of the program. It would be the sixth time in the Tim Siegel Era (1993-present) that the Red Raiders have won 16 matches in a season.
The Red Raiders are 9-2 in their last 11 matches and 4-0 at home this season. Texas Tech has topped three straight ranked opponents heading into Sunday after wins over No. 31 San Diego, No. 30 Indiana and No. 36 Notre Dame.
The Rajin' Cajuns have won three of their last five matches, including advancing to the HEB Tournament of Champions finals. Louisiana has been ranked as high as No. 73. Texas Tech is led by junior Felipe Soares, who is ranked No. 43 in the nation and sophomore Jolan Caileau, who is ranked No. 109. Soares is 17-10 on the season, while Cailleau is riding a nine-match winning streak and is 21-8 on the year.
Other key contributors for Texas Tech include Hugo Dojas (14-6), Alex Sendegeya (16-6), Francisco Zambon (11-10) and Connor Curry (9-11).
