- The Texas Tech defense was able to get out of several jams against Oral Roberts on Wednesday afternoon, turning five double plays throughout the contest. Tech converted three double plays in three contests this year, and they turned four in a game last season against Oral Roberts, but it's been more than 15 years since the Red Raiders have been able to turn-two half a dozen times in one outing.
- Texas Tech infielder and designated hitter Cory Raley continued his hitting tear against the Golden Eagles, going 3-for-5 in the second game of the series and improving his average to .411, leading all Red Raiders. The Temple College transfer has now earned at least three hits in five games on the season.
- Senior second baseman Bryant Burleson picked up his 46th career double against ORU, giving him sole possession of eighth place all time amongst Red Raiders. Keith Ginter and Taylor Ashby are currently ahead of Burleson, each with 48 for 6th place.
- Cory Raley was able to start things off with a bang in the first, hitting a triple in his first at-bat of the contest. Stephen Smith then knocked him in on an RBI single for the first score of the game. In the first inning so far this season, the Red Raiders have outscored their opponents 16-2, helping them pick up several big early leads.
- The Red Raiders were able to put up seven runs on the Golden Eagles on Wednesday, their eighth win of the season when scoring at least seven runs. The only loss when scoring at least seven runs was on Tuesday in game one of the midweek series against Oral Roberts, where the Red Raiders lost 9-7 in 11 innings. Tech also moves to 10-2 when the opponent scores four runs or fewer.
- Sophomore outfielder Stephen Smith was able to pick up his 20th walk of the season, which leads both the team and the Big 12. He accounts for an impressive one out of every 2.96 walks for the Red Raiders. He's also outpacing himself from 2014, as he had only 13 walks through 21 games in his freshman season.
