Red Raiders Ranked No. 25 In ITA Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - Despite going 2-0 last week, Texas Tech slipped one spot to No. 25 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association men's tennis rankings.
The Red Raiders (16-4) have been ranked inside the ITA Top 30 for 11 consecutive seasons.
The Big 12 Conference could arguably be the toughest conference in the nation despite only have six teams competing in men's tennis. All six teams in the Big 12 are ranked in the ITA Top 25 - Oklahoma (No. 1), Baylor (No. 2), Texas (No.7), TCU (No. 10), Oklahoma State (No. 22) and Texas Tech (No. 25).
Individually, Felipe Soares jumped three spots to No. 40 in singles. Soares has been ranked in singles for 17 consecutive ranking periods, dating back to Apr. 8, 2014. He reached as high as No. 35 on Feb. 10 of this season. Soares is currently 18-10 on the season and 55-30 over the last three seasons.
Sophomore Jolan Cailleau, who became the 11th player in program history to win 10 matches at No. 4 in a season, won his 10th consecutive match on Sunday and is 22-8 on the season. Cailleau is ranked No. 113 and is 10-1 at No. 4 and a combined 15-3 in dual matches this spring.
Soares and Hugo Dojas, who have anchored the No. 1 doubles spot this season, are 12-4 on the season and are currently No. 24 in the nation. Soares and freshman Connor Curry are ranked No. 54 as a tandem, but have not been paired since the fall.
Texas Tech is in the midst of a 12-day break. The Red Raiders return to action in Fort Worth, when Texas Tech opens Big 12 play at No. 10 TCU on Apr. 2.
