Red Raiders Ranked No. 17 In ITA Poll

Tim Siegel's Red Raiders enter the Big 12 Championships ranked No. 17 and will face No. 10 Texas in the first round.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech dropped one spot out to No. 17 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association Top 25 poll released on Tuesday.
A win over No. 25 California vaulted UCLA to No. 15, bumping the Red Raiders to No. 17 in the poll. The Top 16 teams in the nation vie to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Championships.
The Red Raiders have now been ranked in the ITA Top 75 for 342 consecutive matches, dating back to March 14, 2002. Texas Tech has been ranked inside the Top 25 for 107 matches during that span.
This is the highest Texas Tech has been ranked entering the Big 12 Championships since being ranked No. 15 in 2010.
Individually, Felipe Soares is ranked No. 32 in singles, while Jolan Cailleau is No. 114 and Alex Sendegeya is No. 120. In doubles, Soares and Hugo Dojas are ranked No. 23 entering the Championships, while Soares and Connor Curry are ranked No. 70.
Texas Tech begins play in the first round of the Big 12 Championships on Friday against No. 10 Texas at 9 a.m. in Waco. The Red Raider and Longhorns tied for fourth in Big 12 play. The winner will advance to Face No. 1 Oklahoma on Saturday at noon.
