Red Raiders Earn 14th NCAA Championship Appearance

No. 17 Texas Tech will travel to Los Angeles to face UC-Santa Barbara in the first round on the NCAA Championships.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- For the 14th time in program history, No. 17 Texas Tech has earned a spot in the field of 64 of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships.
The Red Raiders (18-8) are headed west to Los Angeles, where they will face No. 62 UC-Santa Barbara in the first round on Friday, May 8 at noon CT at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Host No. 16 UCLA (15-9) will face Florida Gulf Coast (17-5) at 3 p.m. CT. The winners will square off on Saturday, May 9, at 5 p.m.
Texas Tech is making its ninth appearance in the NCAA Championships in the last 11 years.
The Red Raiders are 3-5 all-time against UC-Santa Barbara and 0-3 against UCLA, while Texas Tech has never faced Florida Gulf Coast. Texas Tech and UCLA met in the second round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend earlier this year, with the Bruins prevailing 4-1.
The Red Raiders' No. 17 ranking is the highest entering the NCAA Championships since entering the 2010 Championships No. 14. Texas Tech is headed back to Los Angeles for the Championships for the first time since 2007.
