CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Texas Tech golfers Lauren Mason and Sarah Brown were named to the 2015 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar Team on Tuesday.
A total of 758 women's golfers from Divisions I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor this year. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
Brown was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament team after carding a 74-74-72-220 (four-over par) to place 10th at the conference championship. The marketing major from Mt. Pleasant, Texas, also recorded seven rounds at par or lower in 2015.
Mason, a redshirt freshman from Queensland, Australia, took 25th in her first appearance at the Big 12 Championships, finishing at 10-over for the tournament. The human sciences major played in all six tournaments this season for the Lady Raiders averaging a score of 74.1.
Both golfers played major roles in Tech's incredible run to the match play portion of the 2015 NCAA Championships.
