No. 14 Men's Tennis Defeats Clemson, 6-1

LUBBOCK, Texas -The No. 14 Texas Tech men's tennis team claimed a 6-1 win over Clemson on Friday afternoon at McLeod Tennis Center. The victory improved Texas Tech to 9-0 on the year, while Clemson drops to 1-4 overall.
"It wasn't very easy today with the wind." Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi said. "We came out early in the doubles and did a good job of giving ourselves a lead. Playing with the type of wind we had today, it plays with your game a bit, but we adjusted and handled our business."
Texas Tech began the match with a 1-0 lead by claiming the doubles point with back-to-back victories at No. 2 and No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 singles, Alex Sendegeya gave Tech a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Clemson's Luke Johnson, followed by Bjorn Thomson's 6-3, 6-3 victory over CU's Christian Harris at No. 5 singles. Felipe Soares clinched the Texas Tech team victory with a 7-6 (6-4), 6-2 win over Clemson Alex Favrot.
Texas Tech's Connor Curry made it 5-0 Red Raiders with a 6-7 (4-6), 6-0, 1-0 (10-4) win at No. 4 singles. Jolan Cailleau registered Tech's sixth win with a hard fought 6-1, 6-7 (14-16), 1-0 (10-4) win at No. 3 singles.
"Every day is about improving, that's what we're striving for," Masi said. "Next week in practice we'll be preparing for our match on Saturday and also trying to get ready for ITA indoors. We'll be going up against some of the nation's top tennis programs at the ITA event."
Texas Tech is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 6 when it hosts Abilene Christian at 3:30 p.m. The Red Raiders will then travel to the ITA National Indoor Championships from Feb. 12-15 hosted by the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
