King Garners Big 12 Freshman Of The Week Award

Forward Jade King’s game-winner against Oklahoma earns her conference honor.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech soccer's Jade King has been named Big 12 Freshman of the Week after notching the game-winning score in double overtime against Oklahoma last weekend.
It is the second time King has been honored by the conference this season, as she picked up Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 27. Texas Tech has earned four weekly awards in 2016, as King was joined by Rebekah O'Brien for the Defensive nod at the end of September and Jordie Harr earned Freshman of the Week on Aug. 23.
King tallied the golden goal in the 104th minute against then-No. 24 Oklahoma on Friday, Oct. 28, after her shot from about 16 yards out ricocheted off the crossbar and into the back of the net. It was her team-leading sixth goal of the year and third game winner.
The score also punched Tech's ticket to the Big 12 Championship, moving the Red Raiders into eighth in the conference standings ahead of Texas to extend their season. The Red Raiders will be matched up with No. 1 West Virginia as the conference tournament opens on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. from Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.
