Four Red Raiders Earn Big 12 Academic Honors

Bryant one of five Big 12 volleyball student-athletes represented with a 4.00 GPA
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball placed four student-athletes on 2016 Academic All-Big 12 Teams, the league office announced today.

Sophomore defensive specialist Katelyn Bryant headlined the first team selections with a 4.00 grade point average, one of five Big 12 volleyball student-athletes to do so. Seniors Marguerite Grubb and Lauren Douglass also received nods on the first team, while sophomore Katy Keenan garnered second team accolades.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The Red Raiders head to Austin to battle No. 7 Texas on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. on Longhorn Network.
