Men’s Basketball Inks Four in Early Signing Period

The Red Raiders have signed Jarrett Culver, Jordan Brangers, Hyron Edwards and Josh Webster as part of the fall period.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech men's basketball head coach Chris Beard has signed a quartet of players – Jarrett Culver, Jordan Brangers, Hyron Edwards and Josh Webster – announced Friday as part of the fall signing period.
The 2017-18 signing class will add depth to the backcourt with the graduation of Giovanni McLean and Devon Thomas following this season. Culver comes in as a freshman whereas Brangers, Edwards and Webster will have two seasons of eligibility with the Red Raiders. The class already features All-BIG EAST Freshman honoree Tommy Hamilton IV, a transfer from DePaul, in the frontcourt.
Culver, a 6-5 guard from Lubbock and Coronado High School, is playing his senior season for Randy Dean. He is one of the best players to come out of Lubbock in recent decades and rated a three-star prospect by ESPN.com, Rivals.com and 247 Sports.
Culver posted 20.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as a junior last season. He helped guide the Mustangs to Class 6A regional semifinal round. Culver has started his senior season with 18.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor.
His brother, Trey, is a standout for Texas Tech's track and field program. He is a three-time All-American and an NCAA Champion in the 2016 Indoor High Jump.

Jordan Brangers
Brangers, a 6-2 guard from Radcliff, Kentucky is playing his sophomore season for Steve Green at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas this season. His brother, Jermaine Rutley, played for Coach Beard at Little Rock in 2015-16.
Brangers possesses great shooting ability and has knocked down over 50 percent from three-point territory during his opening three games with South Plains. He is averaging 13.5 points per game.

Hyron Edwards
Edwards, a 6-0 guard from East Chicago, Indiana by way of Trinity Valley Community College in Texas will join the Red Raiders as a junior for next season. He was a Top 100 prospect out of high school and became the first player in program history to capture National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Freshman All-American honors and plays for Coach Guy Furr.
Edwards posted 13.7 points, 5.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game during his freshman season where Trinity Valley CC amassed a 33-2 record and a No. 1 ranking for a majority of 2015-16. He racked up double figures in 29 of 35 games sparked by a trio of 20-plus point performances and provided a season's best 29 points on 11-of-13 shooting effort.

Through three games this season, Webster is averaging 11.0 points per game and is shooting over 70 percent from the field. He is proven winner and won a high school state championship while at CBC High School in Missouri.
