Keter Wraps Up Cross Country Season at NCAA Championships

Benard Keter finished 131st in the National Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana
TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – Benard Keter, a senior from Nakuru, Kenya, concluded an impressive first and last season for Red Raider Cross Country on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson 10,000-meter course in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Keter ran the Indiana State University home course in tough conditions with a time of 31:07.1, placing him 131st out of 251 entries.
"This isn't perhaps the race we would have liked, but Benard competed well in difficult conditions," Head Coach Jon Murray said.Â
Keter advanced to the National Championships coming off of a 10th place finish at the Mountain Region Championships where he paced his first-ever 10K in 31.07.7.Â
Prior to the Mountain Region, Keter wrangled in a first-place finish at the Big 12 Championship completing the 8K in 25:28.7.Â
"The National meet is for the best in the country and Benard represented Texas Tech with honor," Murray concluded.Â
Texas Tech's indoor track and field season is set to begin Saturday, January 14th in Nashville, Tennessee at the Commodore Invitational.Â
