Patrick Mahomes II found Dylan Cantrell for a 40-yard touchdown early in the first half before Quan Shorts and Keke Coutee both hauled in passes of 80 yards or longer. Jonathan Giles later added a 62-yard scoring strike with 4:50 remaining in the first half.
• Texas Tech scored 41 first-half points, its most since the Red Raiders led Stephen F. Austin, 45-3, at the half of its season opener. It marked the most first-half points for the Red Raiders against a Big 12 foe since Tech poured on 49 points over the opening 30 minutes against Baylor in 2001.

MAHOMES BECOMES JUST THIRD PLAYER IN FBS HISTORY TO RECORD 5,000 YARDS OF TOTAL OFFENSE IN BACK-TO-BACK SEASONS
• Mahomes had another historic performance leading the Red Raiders as he finished 30-of-46 for 580 yards and 6 touchdowns in the win. His 586 passing yards tied for fifth-most in Texas Tech single-game history while his six touchdown passes tied his career high that was set in this same game in 2014.• Mahomes surpassed 5,000 yards of total offense for the second-straight season in today's game, which placed the junior in elite company among FBS quarterbacks who have reached the mark multiple times in a career. He joins the likes of former Red Raider quarterback Graham Harrell (2007-08) and Houston's Case Keenum (2008-09, 2011) as the only quarterbacks in FBS history to record 5,000 yards of total offense twice in a career. He is the 12th quarterback in FBS history to pass for over 5,000 yards in a season.
• In addition, Mahomes' 586 yards passing against Baylor pushed him to 5,035 on the season, the most in his career. He is the fourth Red Raider quarterback to pass for 5,000 yards in a season, joining the likes of B.J. Symons (5,833 - 2003), Graham Harrell (5,707 - 2007 and 5,111 - 2008) and his head coach Kliff Kingsbury (5,017 - 2002).
• This is the 22nd time in Mahomes' career where he has passed for at least 300 yards in a game. It is the 11th time where he has thrown for 400 or more yards and his fifth time with at least 500 yards.
• Mahomes reached the 400-yard mark before the Red Raiders even made it to halftime as he was 17-of-24 for 412 yards and five touchdowns in the first-half alone. It marked the most yards Mahomes has thrown for in the first half during his career. Mahomes has thrown for 3,234 yards in the first-half alone this season, which is more than the totals of 105 FBS teams in full games this season.
• Mahomes is the first quarterback to throw multiple touchdown passes of at least 80 yards all-time for a college game held at AT&T Stadium.
• In three career starts against Baylor, Mahomes has now thrown for 1,600 yards and 15 touchdowns. He is averaging 533 passing yards per game all-time versus Baylor.

Moore recorded the same total in a 2011 game against Texas State.
