Five Lady Raiders score double figures in midweek win
LUBBOCK, Texas – Five Lady Raiders scored in double figures as Texas Tech overpowered Prairie View A&M, 85-43, in the first midweek home game of the season.
Texas Tech (4-2) opened the game with a 30-5 first quarter, the biggest deficit in a quarter this season. The 30 points was the most scored in a quarter since the Lady Raiders scored 33 in the first quarter against North Dakota. Prairie View's (3-4) five points in the first quarters is the lowest
Texas Tech came out of the half and scored 21 points in the third. The Lady Raiders have averaged 22.5 points in the third quarter this season.
The Panthers went on to score 43 points, the lowest allowed by the Lady Raiders this season.
Freshman Brittany Brewer and Sophomore Recee' Caldwell led the team with 16 points each. Junior Larryn Brooks followed with a career-high 15 points of her own and Jada Terry and Ivonne CookTaylor scored 10 in the win.
Brewer's 16 points and eight rebounds was a career high for the freshman.
