Watson Picks Up NSCAA All-Central Region Honor

Lauren Watson receives third team All-Central Region accolades from the NSCAA
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech soccer senior goalkeeper Lauren Watson has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Central Region Third Team, the league announced.

It is the fifth award this season for the native of The Woodlands, Texas. Watson received First Team All-Big 12 honors on Oct. 31, while also earning three academic accolades: Academic All-Big 12 First Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District & All-American (Third Team).

Watson's award from the NSCAA is the second of her career and is the 18th in the history of Texas Tech soccer. She is the only Red Raider goalkeeper to earn the distinction, also earning the honor in 2014.

Watson found success both on and off the field in 2016. Playing in every minute of every match this season, Watson recorded 86 saves behind a goals against average mark of 1.06, which ranks seventh in a single season at Texas Tech.

She also moved up the career leaderboards at Tech in saves (254) to fourth and shutouts (25.5) to second, after putting up six clean sheets in her final season in the scarlet & black. Watson leaves Texas Tech with 39 overall wins, a Big 12 title and four-straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
