Douglass becomes the third Red Raider to earn back-to-back AVCA All-Region accolades.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball senior Lauren Douglass was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Southwest Region Honorable Mention, the AVCA announced on Tuesday.
Â
This is the latest in a long line of awards for Douglass, who already received All-Big 12 honors for the third consecutive year. Douglass was also an AVCA All-Region performer in 2015 after setting the school record in single-season hitting percentage at .377. She is only the third Red Raider in history to earn back-to-back AVCA All-Region honors, joining Lisa Higlers (1997-98) and Rachel Brummitt (2013-14).
Â
Douglass compiled a career-best 343 kills this season while hitting at a .340 clip, good for fifth in the conference. She added 114 total blocks, averaging 1.02 for set which was also a top-10 mark in the Big 12. Douglass posted 19 double-digit kill performances this season and hit .440 or better in 10 matches, including a .773 clip against Portland State that ranks sixth all-time in a single match in Texas Tech history and was the top mark in Big 12 play during the regular season.
Â
Transferring to Texas Tech after her freshman season, Douglass wraps up her three-year career in the scarlet and black with 895 kills and a .343 hitting percentage, finishing with the second-highest career hitting percentage in school history. Her dominance didn't stop there as she totaled 250 career block assists while at Texas Tech, eighth most in school history.
