Men's Tennis Remains at No. 14 in ITA Rankings

Texas Tech has moved up in the ITA rankings in two of the first three weeks of the poll.

SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The Texas Tech men's tennis team stayed at No. 14 in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings announced Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Red Raiders (9-0) have tucked away four consecutive victories over ranked opponents which include then No. 41 New Mexico, No. 17 Ole Miss, No. 21 Florida and No. 75 Clemson. The 9-0 start for Texas Tech is the best in program history since the 2005 squad opened the season with a 17 straight wins.
The Red Raiders are one of five Big 12 squads ranked among the ITA's Top 20 which include TCU (2), Baylor (4), Oklahoma (5) and Oklahoma State (17). The five Big 12 teams are the most for a single conference among the ITA Top 20, the ACC has five teams ranked in the ITA Top 25.
The ITA singles and doubles rankings will remain unchanged until next Wednesday. Felipe Soares and Hugo Dojas are the nation's No. 2 doubles pair. Soares also is ranked at the No. 8 spot, and Alex Sendegeya is rated No. 33 in singles.
Texas Tech faces Abilene Christian on Saturday in its final tune-up before next week's ITA National Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Virginia. First serve is on-tap for 3:30 p.m. CT at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The Red Raiders will play host to a free Kids Clinic following the match which is upon to any child in 8th grade or below. Admission is free to all home matches, and live stats will be available for the ACU match at www.TexasTech.StatBroadcast.com.
