TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
• Texas Tech is now 20-26 all-time against Baylor in one-run games.
• This was the first time since 2011 where Texas Tech and Baylor entered the Sunday game with the series not already clinched. The Red Raiders also won the 2011 rubber match in Waco.
• Texas Tech connected on five-consecutive hits in the second inning beginning with a Cody Farhat two-out single. It marked the first time the Red Raiders had recorded five-straight hits since putting together a similar streak in the fourth inning against Northern Illinois on Feb. 20, 2015.
• Texas Tech is now out-scoring opponents, 22-4, in the second inning after the Red Raiders plated four runs this afternoon.
• Texas Tech connected on a season-high two triples in the win. The Red Raiders had previously totaled just one triple this season.
• Texas Tech is now 9-0 this season when leading after seven innings.
• The Red Raiders are now 8-2 this season when hitting at least one home run.
• Texas Tech is now a perfect 9-0 this season when out-hitting its opponent.
Stephen Smith
• Recorded at least four hits for the third time in his career and the first time since going 5-for-6 against Stephen F. Austin on March 18, 2014.
• His four hits matched the season high for a Texas Tech individual. It is the most hits for a Red Raider since Tyler Neslony also recorded four hits against New Mexico State on March 2.
• Connected on his third home run of the season and the 14th of his career with a solo shot to led off the fifth inning. It was Tech's fifth home run to lead off an inning this season.
Tanner Gardner
• Recorded his fourth multi-hit performance in his last five games; Gardner leads the team with nine multi-hit games this season.
• Hitting a team-leading .688 overall (11-for-16) with two RBI over the past five games.
• Recorded three hits (matches season high) for the fifth time in his career and the fourth time already this season.
• Leads the Big 12 following this weekend with a.467 batting average and .568 on-base percentage.
Tyler Floyd
• Recorded his third career triple with a three-run shot in the second inning. It was his first triple since facing Abilene Christian on April 8, 2014.
• Matched his career high with three RBI which was previously set on April 8, 2014, against Abilene Christian.
Hayden Howard
• Earned his fourth win of the season which is tied for the Big 12 lead through games played this weekend.
• Compiled 15.1-consecutive scoreless innings before Baylor scored two runs (one earned) in the eighth inning. It was previously the longest scoreless inning streak for a Red Raider since Dominic Moreno tossed 15.2-consecutive scoreless innings from April 19-May 3, 2015.
• Has not allowed a walk over his last 17.1 innings pitched, marking the first time a Red Raider has tossed 15 or more consecutive innings without a walk since Jonny Drozd in 2014 (15.1 IP, April 22, May 15, 2014).
Robert Dugger
• Recorded his sixth-straight outing without allowing an earned run; has not allowed a run in eight of 10 appearances this season.
• Earned his team-leading third save of the season which currently ranks tied for second in the Big 12.
• Has currently pitched 11.0-consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
• Leads the Big 12 with a 0.90 ERA after allowing just two earned runs over 20.0 complete innings.
Trey Ochoa
• Reached base three times via a second-inning single and two walks in his first career start in Big 12 play.
Cody Farhat
• Made first career start in Big 12 play, going 1-for-5 overall with a two-out single that ignited five-consecutive hits for the Red Raiders in the second inning.
