TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
• Texas Tech is now 3-1 in Big 12 play with the win, marking its best start to conference action since the Red Raiders posted a similar 3-1 record in 1999.
• Texas Tech had not previously tossed back-to-back shutouts in Big 12 series openers since defeating Kansas State, 2-0, in Manhattan and downing No. 14 Oklahoma State, 7-0, at home in 2001.
• The shutout marked the first against Oklahoma since the Red Raiders routed the Sooners, 10-0, on Feb. 22, 1991. It was just the fourth game in what has turned into 78 all-time meetings between the two schools.
• The shutout marked the 22nd for the Red Raiders under fourth-year head coach Tim Tadlock.
• The Texas Tech pitching staff totaled 12 strikeouts, one shy of its season high set March 2 against New Mexico State.
• Texas Tech's four-run first inning marked the second time this season where the Red Raiders have scored at least four runs in the opening frame. Tech also plated five runs on Feb. 28 against Arkansas.
• Texas Tech is now 5-2 this season when scoring in the first inning.
• Texas Tech is now 10-3 this season when scoring before its opponent.
• Texas Tech is now 11-0 this season when leading after seven innings.
• Texas Tech is now a perfect 11-0 this season when out-hitting its opponent.
Tim Tadlock
• Passed Dan Spencer (2009-12) for sole possession of third place on the Texas Tech career wins chart. Tadlock is now 116-82 in his four seasons leading his alma mater.
Davis Martin
• Recorded a career-high seven strikeouts after allowing just three hits in six shutout innings.
• Combined to toss 12.0 shutout innings in his two Big 12 starts this season where he has allowed just five hits while striking out 11 hitters.
• Closed the night with a 1.69 ERA, the third-lowest mark currently in the Big 12 Conference.
• Only Big 12 pitcher with at least two starts that has not allowed an earned run this season.
Hayden Howard
• Recorded his first career save with three shutout innings out of the bullpen. • Posted five strikeouts, matching his season high set previously on March 12 at No. 9 California. • Closed the night as the Big 12 leader with a 1.38 ERA this season.
• Had his streak of 19.1-consecutive innings without allowing a walk snapped to begin the ninth inning. It was the first time a Red Raider had tossed 15 or more consecutive innings without a walk since Jonny Drozd went 15.1 innings from April 22-May 15, 2014.
Eric Gutierrez
• Recorded a RBI for the fourth-consecutive game following a run-scoring infield single in the first inning.
• His fifth inning walk was his eighth-consecutive plate appearance to reach base safely dating back to Tuesday's victory over New Mexico. It marked the longest streak for a Red Raider since Jake Barrios also reached safely in eight-consecutive plate appearances on March 16-18, 2013.
Orlando Garcia
• Recorded his fourth multi-hit game this season after finishing 2-for-2 with a walk and hit-by-pitch.
