Series Preview: No. 10 Texas Tech at No. 6 TCU

- No. 10 Texas Tech resumes Big 12 Conference play this weekend when the Red Raiders travel for a top-10 battle with No. 6 TCU at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth. The series begins with a 8 p.m. first pitch Friday evening on FOX Sports 1. The Red Raiders will also face the Horned Frogs at 4 p.m. Saturday (FOX Sports Southwest Plus) and 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
- Texas Tech currently sits atop the Big 12 Conference standings as the Red Raiders take a 12-3 record into this weekend's series at No. 6 TCU. It matches the best start to Big 12 play in school history as Tech also recorded a similar 12-3 mark in the league's inaugural season in 1997.
- Texas Tech has split the past 10 games against TCU as the Red Raiders are 70-89-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs which includes a 28-50-1 mark in games played in Fort Worth.
- The Red Raiders have won both of their Big 12 road series so far this season as Texas Tech took two-of-three games at Baylor (March 18-20) before sweeping No. 16 Oklahoma State a few weeks later in Stillwater (April 8-10).
- The Red Raiders are in the midst of an eight-game road trip that began with a 5-4 walk-off victory Wednesday night against Abilene Christian. Texas Tech will travel to Kansas next weekend before facing ACU again on May 10 to conclude the road trip.
- Texas Tech has already played six games this season against top-10 ranked opponents as the Red Raiders are 4-2 with wins over No. 9 Houston, No. 6 Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 9 California and No. 5 Florida State. All four of those wins have come on the road or at neutral sites.
- Texas Tech is 8-5 against ranked opponents this season which includes a perfect 3-0 mark in Big 12 play.
- Texas Tech has already reached the 30-win plateau for a third-consecutive season, a feat the Red Raiders had not previously accomplished since recording at least 30 wins over 14-straight years from 1993-2006.
- Texas Tech currently has seven different players who lead or share the Big 12 high in a statistical category: Tanner Gardner (batting average, triples, walks & on-base percentage), Eric Gutierrez (runs scored), Stephen Smith (home runs, total bases), Michael Davis (doubles), Tyler Neslony (RBI), Zach Davis (stolen bases) and Cory Raley (stolen bases).
INSIDE THE TCU SERIES
- Texas Tech and TCU will be meeting for the 161st time on a baseball diamond Friday night which marks the longest-running series against an opponent entering the 2016 season.
- The Red Raiders are 70-89-1 all-time against the Wildcats, including a 28-50-1 mark in road games.
- Texas Tech and TCU have split the past 10 games against each other as the Red Raiders claimed the 2014 series in Fort Worth while the Horned Frogs won last season's series in Lubbock. The two schools have also met over the past two years at the Big 12 Championship and the 2014 College World Series.
- TCU has won two of its three series against the Red Raiders since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12 prior to the 2013 season.
