- Texas Tech will look to continue its run in Omaha on Tuesday afternoon when the Red Raiders face top-seeded Florida in an elimination game. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. inside TD Ameritrade Park with television coverage provided on ESPN2.Â
- The Red Raiders are coming off a 5-3 heartbreaking loss to TCU on Sunday afternoon in the College World Series opener. Texas Tech carried a one-run lead into the ninth inning before Luken Baker connected on a three-run homer to drop the Red Raiders to 0-3 all-time in CWS games.Â
- Texas Tech and Florida are the only two national seeds remaining in the College World Series after Miami was eliminated on Monday afternoon. The Red Raiders, who are the No. 5 seed, earned a national seed this season for the first time since the NCAA went to its current format (Super Regionals) in 1999.
- This is Texas Tech's second appearance all-time at the College World Series as the Red Raiders also advanced to Omaha in 2014. Tech is one of seven programs nationally to advance to Omaha twice over the past three seasons.Â
- Texas Tech and Florida will be meeting for the first time in program history on Tuesday. The Gators previously dropped a 2-1 decision to Coastal Carolina on Sunday evening.Â
- Texas Tech is a perfect 2-0 in elimination games during the NCAA Championship as the Red Raiders topped Dallas Baptist, 5-3, in the regional round before dropping East Carolina, 11-0, to conclude the NCAA Lubbock Super Regional.Â
- Tim Tadlock, the Big 12 Coach of the Year and a finalist for the Skip Bertman National Coach of the Year Award, is the first skipper in Big 12 history to lead a program to Omaha twice in his first four seasons.
INSIDE THE FLORIDA SERIES
- Texas Tech will be facing Florida for just the first time in program history on Tuesday.Â
- The Red Raiders are 99-172 all-time against current members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Texas Tech previously faced Arkansas earlier this year at the Shriners College Classic in Houston where the Razorbacks rallied for a 10-6 victory.Â
- Texas Tech is 3-2 all-time against SEC foes during the NCAA Championship as the Red Raiders have previously faced Arkansas (1-0), Mississippi State (2-0), Ole Miss (0-1) and South Carolina (0-1). Tech and Ole Miss previously met during the 2014 College World Series where the Rebels claimed a 2-1 victory to eliminate the Red Raiders from the tournament.
