Federici, Jackson Advance to Semifinals

Two Lady Raiders to compete in semifinals at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational tomorrow
MIDLAND, Texas – Sabrina Federici and Katelyn Jackson will compete for a spot in the final match of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational as they remained undefeated in the singles draw.
The top seeded Federici took a three-set win (7-6, 4-6, 6-2) over Abilene Christian's Lucille Pothier to advance to the quarterfinals. She then defeated ACU's Whitney Williams 6-0, 6-2 to qualify for the semifinals.
Junior Katelyn Jackson also advanced to the semifinals after defeating Penn State's Devan McCluskey (6-1, 6-0) in the round of 16 and taking down Tamuna Kutubidze in straight sets (6-1, 7-6).
The two will play for a spot in the finals tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
Lynn Kiro and Alba Cortina-Pou ended singles play after falling 6-3, 6-2 in the singles round of 16.
The doubles team of Federici and Pou snagged a 8-7 win during the round of 16 and will play over UTA. They will face the Penn State duo tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
Jackson and Kiro also advanced to the quarterfinals round after defeating Heczey and Thoma out of North Texas, 8-2.
