Texas Tech Sweeps Dual Meet With New Mexico State
September 02, 2016 | Cross Country
The Red Raiders were led by seniors Benard Keter and Jocelyn Caro.
RUIDOSO, N.M. – The Texas Tech men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2016 season by picking up a pair of dual-meet victories at the annual Texas Tech-New Mexico State Dual on Friday, Sept. 2, at the Ruidoso Fitness Trail.
Â
"This was a great opener for both teams," head coach Jon Murray said. "We used it as part of our training here in the mountains of eastern New Mexico. We will use the competition as a springboard for what we need to do in the future. There were several PR's on this course, despite the rainy conditions. Good sign for good things in the future for both teams."

The Red Raiders were paced by senior Benard Keter and junior Miguel Bautista, who recorded the top two times in the men's 6,195-meter race. Keter crossed the finish line first with a time of 20:46.70, while Bautista followed closely at 20:49.40. The men's team finished with 26 overall points to earn the win, while New Mexico State earned 31.
