Track & Field Heads to Adidas Classic

Red Raiders to compete against Nebraska, North Dakota State and Texas State.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech track & field heads to their second out-of-state meet of the season this weekend to compete in Lincoln, Nebraska at the Adidas Classic. The meet is set to begin Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
This is the first time that the Texas Tech track & field program will be traveling to the Adidas Classic meet.

GLOBAL LEADERS
The Texas Tech men have pushed for impressive marks in the first two meets of the season, currently securing five top-10 spots in the world. The leader amongst those is the men's 4x400 team, which is ranked second overall with a time of 3:07.70. This time was achieved last weekend at the Texas A&M Aggie Invitational in College Station where the No. 1 time in the world was achieved by the host team. Next on the board is Andrew Hudson in the 200-meter race with a current No. 5 position in the rankings owed to his 20.80 mark made in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Kyle Collins paced a 46.87 400-meter race at the Aggie Invitational allowing him the No. 6 spot. Sophomore jumper Charles Brown created a new indoor personal-record at A&M of 7.81m/25-7.50. Last but not least is junior high jumper Trey Culver, who is currently tied for 10th with his indoor season opening clearance of 2.21m/7-3 at the Arkansas Invitational. The Red Raiders will continue to push for more world-leading marks this weekend at the Adidas Classic in Lincoln, Nebraska.
THAT'S A WRAP, COLLEGE STATION
Distance runner Miguel Bautista secured a meet-record this past weekend in College Station, Texas. Bautista paced the men's 3000-meter race with a time of 8:07.70, a personal-best for the junior. Though he did not receive a personal record, Kyle Collins still managed to produce a 46.87 400-meter race allowing him to take the sixth-place standing in the world this year and 10th in the NCAA so far this season. Vincent Crisp brought in a second-place 800-meter race finish. Crisp's 1:49.58 time tabbed a new personal record. Zarriea Willis cleared her indoor high of 1.80/5-10.75 in the women's high jump that gave her the second-place meet finish. Andrew Hudson, Kyle Collins, Vincent Crisp and Steven Champlin achieved the No.2 time in the world in the men's 4x400 running the relay in 3:07.70.
Up next the Red Raiders will travel to the New Mexico Classic for their first two-day indoor meet of the season beginning Friday, February 3rd.
