Recap: Track & Field at Adidas Classic

Eight first-place finishes took place in Lincoln, Nebraska.
LINCOLN, Nebraska – Texas Tech track & field men and women both brought in second-place finishes today at the Adidas Classic meet. The women ended 1.50 points from the win.
Eight Red Raiders locked in first-place finishes, one of which being the women's 4x400 relay. Also finishing first was Charles Brown, Zarriea Willis, Drew McMichael, Jocelyn Caro, Andrew Hudson, Kyle Collins and Darien Tennon.
"I am really proud of how our teams competed," Head Coach, Wes Kittley said. "We had several personal-bests and we are learning how to get in a meet and try to score. When we get everyone healthy I think we can be more consistent!"
The five Red Raiders in the women's 60-meter finals all achieved personal records today. Tiffani Johnson (7.50), Viershanie Latham (7.51), Marika Brown (7.53), I'Shunique Hamilton (7.54) and Talajah Murrell (7.58) filling the 3-7 spots.
Sophomore Charles Brown made his season debut in the high jump bringing in a first-place finishing clearance of 2.14m/7-0.25. This is the third meet in a row in which Brown has secured a personal record, the last two being in the long jump and triple jump.
Zarriea Willis matched her high jump mark of 1.80m/5-10.75 from last week's meet at A&M. This jump leaves her in the No. 2 spot in the Big 12 this season.
Andrew Hudson also matched his time of 6.68 in the 60-meter dash keeping his No. 2 seat in the Big 12.
Next week the Red Raiders will travel to the New Mexico Classic, the first two day meet of the season, beginning Friday, February 3rd.
