Lady Raiders Advance to ITA Indoor Nationals

Texas Tech defeats No. 21 Arizona, 4-3, to stay undefeated
LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior Katelyn Jackson came up with a three-set win on the final court to clinch a 4-3 win over No. 21 Arizona State to close out the ITA Kick-off Weekend Sunday evening.
The Texas Tech women's tennis team (2-0) earned a spot at the ITA Indoor National Championships for the second straight year.
After dropping the doubles point to the Sun Devils, sophomore Alex Valenstein tied the match, 1-1, with a two-set sweep over ASU's Nicole Fossa-Huergo (6-4, 6-1).
Arizona State took the 2-1 advantage when Sarah Dvorak fell to Kelley Anderson in three sets.
Junior Gabriela Talaba tied up the match, 2-2, with a comeback win after dropping the first set 6-3. Talaba was down 4-1 in the final set, but went on to win five straight games to claim the win. The match was also her third ranked win of the season.
Sabrina Federici made it 3-2 for the Lady Raiders with a three-set win over ASU's Savannah Slaysman, just before Felicity Maltby fell in three sets (6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-3) to tie the match again, 3-3.
It all came down to Katelyn Jackson.
Jackson dropped the first set, 6-4, but quickly tied it up with a 6-1 set two win. Jackson led for most of the third set, and held on to the win with a 6-4 final set over Gussie O'Sullivan.
The Lady Raiders return to action next weekend as the team travels to Orlando, Fla., for two matches. Texas Tech is set to face North Carolina on Friday at 5 p.m. (CT) at the USTA National Campus. Fans can watch the match live on ESPN3.com or the WatchESPN app.
