SATURDAY STORYLINES
- Red Raiders from across the world will reconnect in Lubbock this weekend as Texas Tech University and the Texas Tech Alumni Association host Homecoming 2017. Homecoming festivities begin Monday and last throughout the week leading up to the Pep Rally/Bonfire on Friday and Texas Tech's game against Iowa State.
- Texas Tech is 54-30-3 all-time on Homecoming with wins in eight of the last 10 games dating back to the 2007 season. This is the fourth time Tech has hosted Iowa State for Homecoming as the Red Raiders are 4-0 all-time in those games (2003, 2007, 2013, 2015).
- Texas Tech remains among the national leaders in turnover margin this week as the Red Raiders rank fifth nationally and first in the Big 12 in the category at plus-9 on the season.
- Through six games, the Red Raiders have already forced 15 turnovers this season (8 interceptions and 7 fumbles), two more than their total from the entire 2016 season. Tech is tied for 11th nationally with its 15 takeaways so far this season.
- In addition, the Red Raiders have protected the ball, allowing only six turnovers this season which ranks tied for 19th nationally.
- Following two-straight weeks on the road, the Red Raiders return to Jones AT&T Stadium where Texas Tech has won nine of its last 10 games against unranked opponents dating back to the 2015 season. The Red Raiders are 14-5 against unranked foes at home under Kliff Kingsbury.
- It's no secret that Jones AT&T Stadium has been friendly to the high-octane Red Raider offense as Texas Tech has scored 50 or more points in 12 of the last 15 games since the start of the 2015 season. During that time, only Louisiana Tech and Oklahoma have reached the 50-point mark in at least seven games.Â
- Texas Tech enters Saturday's meeting with Iowa State having won four of the last five games against the Cyclones. It will be the 16th all-time meeting between the two schools as the Red Raiders are 11-4 all-time versus Iowa State.
- The Red Raiders have dominated the series in Lubbock as Texas Tech is an impressive 8-1 in home games against the Cyclones. Iowa State's lone win in Lubbock came in a 41-7 victory during the 2011 season.
- Texas Tech is set for its fourth 11 a.m. CT start of the season Saturday, all of which have come in the last five weeks. The Red Raiders also had early starts in each of their road games this season - at Houston, at Kansas and at West Virginia. This is the first time Tech has had three or more 11 a.m. starts in a season since Kingsbury's first season in 2013 when the Red Raiders went 3-1 in such games.
