LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech senior Lauren Mason signed a 1-under-par 71 card for the second-straight round Monday to lead No. 25 Texas Tech at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational held at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
Mason recorded three of her four birdies on the round during her final nine holes, including an easy tap-in at the par-3 3rd hole after her tee shot landed just a few feet from the cup. She is now 2-under for the tournament and in a tie for ninth overall.
The Red Raiders could not make up any ground on the team leaderboard despite shooting 11 strokes better than Sunday's opening round. Tech carded a 12-over 300 round Monday, moving to 35-over for the tournament, which is four strokes back of Texas State.
Mami Yamamoto carded Tech's second-lowest round of the day with a 2-over 74 that moved the junior into a tie for 56th overall at 10-over for the tournament. She is one stroke back of teammate Emma Ballard, who is in sole possession of 55th place following a 3-over round. Louisa Brunt recorded Tech's final score with an 8-over score.
Top-ranked Arkansas strung together another under-par round to keep its spot atop the leaderboard as the Razorbacks are now 18 strokes in front of second place TCU and 21 ahead of Texas A&M in third place.
The Red Raiders will have an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday to begin the final round. Live scoring will be available throughout the day at www.BirdieFire.com.
