Tech Tied For Sixth After Day One at Trinity Forest

Mami Yamamoto ended the opening day of the Trinity Forest Invitational in a tie for eighth place
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech had three players finish among the top 20 individuals Monday after the first two rounds of the Trinity Forest Invitational held at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.

The Red Raiders ended the day at 25-over-par following a 17-over 305 card in the morning that was cut by nine strokes in the afternoon. Tech is tied with Missouri in sixth place, a stroke back of host SMU in fifth and three behind Texas A&M in fourth.

Mami Yamamoto led the Red Raiders at 3-over for the two rounds as she is tied for eighth after a 3-over 75 opening round and then an even-par card later in the day. She is two strokes in front of Lauren Mason in a tie for 13th as Mason posted 4-over and 1-over rounds.

Gabby Barker matched Mason's opening round and then was 2-over to end the day in a tie for 16th overall. Tech is one of four schools in the 13-team field to have three players ranked in the top 20 heading into Tuesday's final round.

Louisa Brunt chipped in Tech's final score over both rounds as she posted 6-over and 5-over cards to end the day in a tie for 41st individually. Emma Ballard rounded out the Tech lineup at 23-over for the two rounds.

Kansas State's Reid Isaac sits atop the individual leaderboard as she combined to shoot 3-under, which is six strokes ahead of Yamamoto. Only five players combined to shoot even-par or better over the opening 36 holes.

Houston controls a five-stroke lead in the team standings as the Cougars lead K-State in second place. Tennessee ended the day in third place at 18-over, which is seven strokes ahead of Tech.
