Men's Tennis Turns Attention to ITA Fall Nationals
October 31, 2017 | Men's Tennis
The Red Raiders will participate in the ITA National Fall Championships for the third straight season.
INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team will be represented during the ITA National Fall Championships for the third consecutive season which begin Wednesday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California.
Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya, the ITA Texas Regionals doubles champions, will square off with Zvonimir Babic and Filip Kraljevic of Ole Miss in Wednesday's Round of 32. The duo has won five consecutive matches sparked by a trio of wins over doubles teams from Texas and Texas A&M at the regional event earlier this month.
"The guys are really pumped to play in this event and play some of the top players in the country," Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi said. "It's a great reward for Jackson and Alex, but we want to come away from this with some success as well. There's a lot to play for. I think they'll have a shot to do well if we can do the simple things right like we did at regionals."
Texas Tech has had Hugo Dojas and Felipe Soares (2015) in doubles along with Jolan Cailleau (2016) in singles qualify for the ITA National Fall Championships during each of the last two seasons. Dojas and Soares captured the 2015 ITA National Indoors doubles title.
