Texas Tech battles Florida A&M on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team returns to action against Florida A&M on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena.
Â
Wednesday's contest against the Rattlers (0-1) will be streamed live on TexasTech.TV, and can be heard through the Texas Tech Sports Network and 107.7 FM. As always, live stats will also be available at TexasTech.Statbroadcast.com.
Â
The game is also the fourth annual Education Day at the U.S.A., which is a mix between the excitement of a Big 12 women's basketball game and engaging educational programs involving both age appropriate work books & on-screen videos for students eighth grade and younger in attendance. Admission is free for all fans who wish to attend Wednesday's game.
Â
Texas Tech is encouraging fans to arrive as early as possible to the game due to a limited amount of parking near the arena. Fans can still park in the West and North lots as usual, but due to class in session, students will still be allowed to park in those lots. Free fan parking will also be available at the commuter lot at the John Walker Soccer Complex off Texas Tech Parkway, with buses transporting fans from the lot to the arena before and after the game. Take a look at the map in the related links column for more information.
Â
It will be the first meeting between the two programs and the first time the Lady Raiders have played a school from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Â
Both teams are also searching for their first victory of the year, after Texas State spoiled Texas Tech's home opener on Sunday, Nov. 12, with an 87-70 decision. Senior Jada Terry dropped 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting against the Bobcats, leading Tech in scoring. Terry was one of four Lady Raiders with double digit point totals, joining junior Recee' Caldwell (13), sophomore Brittany Brewer (10) and senior Dayo Olabode (10).
Â
Florida A&M opened its 2017-18 campaign with a 83-61 loss at Eastern Michigan on Friday, Nov. 10. Florence Ouattara led the Rattlers in scoring in their season opener with 19 points, going 8-for-21 from the field. She also had seven boards and five steals; however, the Rattlers fell behind 39-25 in the first half and couldn't recover after Eastern Michigan put up 29 points after halftime in the third quarter.
Â
Coincidentally, Wednesday's contest will be the second Education Day Florida A&M has been a part of this year, as Eastern Michigan put on a similar event last Friday in Ypsilanti.
Â
After their date with the Rattlers, the Lady Raiders continue their five-game home stand with Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at the United Supermarkets Arena.
