November 15, 2017 | Women's Volleyball
The 6’0 outside hitter/middle blocker led District 14-5A in kills this season at Little Elm.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Head coach Tony Graystone and the Texas Tech volleyball staff closed the fall early signing period by inking Karrington Jones to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday.
Â
"Karrington is a big-time athlete with a ton of upside," head coach Tony Graystone said. "She can play in the middle or on either pin, and she can score points in a lot of different ways. She will make us better immediately, and we're thrilled she's a Red Raider."
Â
Jones, a versatile athlete who can play both outside hitter and middle blocker, hails from Little Elm, Texas, where she starred for Little Elm High School. She earned All-District 14-5A honorable mention honors as a sophomore before missing her entire junior season with an injury. She came back better than ever in her senior campaign, leading Little Elm to its first postseason berth in 12 years.
Â
Standing at 6-0, Jones averaged 4.0 kills per set in her senior season at a .392 clip. She led the district with 485 kills, totaling 920 attempts with just 124 errors, while adding 60 total blocks, 52 of which were solo. She got it done away from the net as well, tallying 427 digs and 44 service aces.
Â
In addition to her success at Little Elm, Jones played for Dallas Skyline, who she helped reach the Girls Junior National Championships in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Â
Jones comes from an athletic family as both parents played basketball collegiately, and her mother is the head girls basketball coach at Little Elm.
Â
Jones is the sixth prospect to sign with the Red Raiders during the fall signing period. The Red Raiders expect to finalize the 2018 class before next fall.
