Culver Notches Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

Culver has scored double figures in four of his last five games.
IRVING, Texas – Jarrett Culver picked up the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award as announced Monday by the conference office.
For Culver, it marked his first career weekly honor from the Big 12. He joins Norense Odiase (Nov. 24, 2014) and Anthony Livingston (Dec. 5, 2016) as the program's most recent Big 12 weekly award recipients.
Culver racked up 19.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game as the Red Raiders improved to 6-0 for the sixth time in program history and for the first time since the 2009-10 season. He was an efficient 15-of-30 from the field and has piled up double figures in four of his last five outings.
Culver provided a career-high 21 points versus Wofford, a team who has made the NCAA Tournament in four of the last seven seasons. The Lubbock native also came away with 18 points, seven assists and two steals during a 33-point rout of Savannah State.
Texas Tech will make its debut at the Under Armour Reunion against Seton Hall on Thursday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT and is televised by FOX Sports 1.
Next up at home, the Red Raiders square off with undefeated Nevada, a team who also won 28 games and appeared in the 2017 NCAA Tournament on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. CT from the United Supermarkets Arena.
