Keke Coutee was recognized on his fourth postseason All-Big 12 team Tuesday morning
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech junior wide receiver Keke Coutee added All-Big 12 honors from ESPN to his growing list of postseason accolades Tuesday as the publication named him the league's top all-purpose player.
This is the fourth postseason award so far for Coutee, who was a member of the Pro Football Focus All-Big 12 team as well as a second-team honoree by both the conference coaches and the Associated Press.
Coutee ranked third in the Big 12 with 1,508 all-purpose yards during the regular season as he recorded 1,242 receiving yards to go along with 253 yards in his role as Tech's primary kickoff returner. He is averaging 125.7 all-purpose yards per game heading into the Birmingham Bowl.
The Lufkin, Texas native has been among the nation's top receivers this season as he ranks ninth in the FBS and second in the Big 12 with his 1,242 receiving yards. He is averaging 103.5 yards per game through the air – the seventh-highest clip in the country – to go along with nine receiving touchdowns for a Tech offense that once again ranks among the nation's leaders.
Coutee has been a big play threat all season as he has caught a team-leading 10 passes that have resulted in 25 yards or longer. In addition, he also has three kickoff returns of at least that length, notably a 92-yard return that went for a touchdown to open Tech's victory over Baylor.
Coutee ended the regular season with one of his best performances of the year as he hauled in nine passes for 168 yards in the come-from-behind victory over Texas. It marked Coutee's fourth game of 150 or more receiving yards this season, which leads all Big 12 players.
The Red Raiders are just 11 days from their first-ever appearance in the Birmingham Bowl, which is slated for an 11 a.m. kickoff Dec. 23 against USF. Television coverage from Legion Field in Birmingham will be provided nationally by ESPN.
