Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 1 Florida in ITA Quarters

Sophomore Felicity Maltby picks up second-straight Top 25 win
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis team fell to No. 1 Florida, 4-1, in the quarterfinals of the ITA Division I National Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon.
Texas Tech (4-2) tied up doubles play with a 7-5 victory on court three. Felicity Maltby and Gabriela Talaba earned their first win over a Top 20 opponent this season after defeating Florida's Belinda Woolcock and Josie Kuhlman.
The Gators (4-0) clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win on court one to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Maltby earned the Lady Raiders lone point of the match with a two-set win over No. 23 Anna Danilina (6-2, 6-4). The win was Maltby's third over a ranked opponent and second straight against a Top 25 opponent.
The Lady Raiders will continue play at the ITA Indoor National Championship in the consolation match play. Time and opponent are TBD.
