Gray Collects Academic All-Big 12 First-Team Honors

Justin Gray is one of four players to earn Academic All-Big First-Team honors for the second consecutive season.
IRVING, TEXAS – Justin Gray of the Texas Tech men's basketball team has secured Academic All-Big 12 First-Team accolades for the second straight season as announced Thursday by the conference office.
Gray joins Iowa State's Matt Thomas, Oklahoma's C.J. Cole and West Virginia's Jevon Carter as repeat first team honorees. He will be featured in the Big 12 Champions for Life campaign later this spring and career goal is become an orthopedic surgeon following his basketball career.
Gray has posted 8.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 blocks per game and has started Texas Tech's last 24 games. The Red Raiders have notched a 9-2 record when Gray has scored in double figures this season. He has registered 16 of his 30 career games with 10-plus points versus Big 12 opponents.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. First-Team selections must have a 3.2 GPA or higher.
Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
Texas Tech will play two of its last three regular season games on the road and will look to break through with its first Big 12 road win at Oklahoma State. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised by ESPNU along with being available on the Watch ESPN app.
