FRISCO, Texas – Texas Tech track & field started their split weekend at The Star this afternoon in Frisco.
Freshman Jessica Gallardo started off the meet by securing the first place finish in the women's mile improving her mark from 5:21.04 to 5:11.62. Also improving her mark was Bret Leigh Nance pushing for a 5:19.04 time and seventh place finish.
The men's pole vaulters all reached for personal records, Drew McMichael leading the pack with his first place finishing height of 5.20m/17-0.75. Just behind was Hagen Stoute in fourth (4.90m/16-0.75) and Hunter Carlton in fifth (4.75m/15-7-PR Matched).
Talajah Murrell shaved off some time in her 60m stride allowing her the No. 2 finish in the women's 60m with a best time of 7.49 in the finals.
Christopher Scott finished third in the men's 800-meter race improving his mark to 1:56.62, a personal best beating his previous mark made at the New Mexico Classic last year.
A new 200-meter PR of 24.97 was notched by Jadsia Warden earning her a fifth place overall finish.
Rose Njoku cleared the bar at 1.68m/5-6 in the women's high jump to reach a new personal best and win seventh place at the meet.
The weekend will continue tomorrow in Ames, Iowa at 11 a.m. and Fayetteville, Arkansas at 1 p.m.
